How to Install Brother Scanner Software on Windows 10

Installing a Brother scanner on your Windows 10 computer can seem like a daunting task, but it's actually quite straightforward. In this article, we'll guide you through the process of installing the driver and setting up your scanner.

Step 1: Connect Your Printer to Your Computer

Typically, a network-connected printer does not need to be shared since it is already on a network. Choose an option for sharing and then click Next. We recommend that you leave the printer name as listed and then click Next.

Step 2: Install the Brother Scanner Driver

If a previous driver was already installed, click Replace the current driver, and then click Next. Your computer must be connected to the Internet. This will take a few minutes to contact the Microsoft server and download the additional drivers. If your model is not listed, click the Windows Update button.

Choose your model from the Printers list and then click Next. On the 'Install the printer driver' screen, choose Brother from the Manufacturer list. Type the IP address of the Brother machine in the Hostname or IP address field, and check the Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use option.

Step 3: Add Your Printer

Note for Network Users

The built-in drivers that you install via network connection ONLY support the printing function. The built-in drivers will be installed automatically. To install the driver, connect your machine to your computer with a USB cable and turn the machine on. If your computer is not connected to the Internet, then the built-in driver may not be installed properly. An Internet connection may be required to install built-in drivers.

Note for USB Users

The built-in drivers that you install via USB connection support the printing and scanning functions. Follow the same steps as above, but make sure your machine is connected to your computer with a USB cable before proceeding.
